I’ve been neglecting my blog, but not my writing. If anything, I’m putting more time and effort in my novel and have just completed the second draft. For my third draft, I’m going over it in detail and reading out loud as I go, because what often looks good on paper doesn’t work conversationally.
But as the title says, Life Happens. Two weeks ago, my wife was in a car wreck and while the car was totaled, she thankfully didn’t receive any serious injuries. She was injured enough to require follow up visits to doctors and so forth. We decided to make do with one vehicle for the next 6-8 months.
Why?
We also sold our house and are moving into an apartment until the new house is build. That means showings, packing, and moving. Thankfully, our realtor whom we’ve gone through before, is highly competent and taking good care of things for us.
Last month, our good friend whom we’ve known for nearly 20 years passed away a few months after moving to Chicago. We inherited one of her dogs and made a cross-country drive to Chicago to pick up the dog - this coming three days after we lost our last dog to a stroke.
In spite of it all, writing continues. For me and at this particular time, it’s a form of escapism when we’re not busy with everything else.
